Abstract
The constructions on peat soil are increasingly being carried out due to the need of land for the construction narrowed. The problem that faced in construction of peat soils is low soil bearing capacity. In this paper, the result shows that woven and grid bamboo can be use as a reinforcement material that expect to be an alternative to increase the bearing capacity of peat soil which is used as the base of shallow foundation with a wide and the layer?s number variation of reinforcement. The research methodologies used laboratory-scale testing. The data obtained from these tests were analyzed by comparing the value of bearing capacity between unreinforced soils and reinforced soils referred as Bearing Capacity Ratio (BCR). From the model in laboratory studies indicated that the increasing of reinforcement dimensions and reinforcement layers was proportional with the increasing of BCR. The maximum value of qu is 24.44 kPa with a bearing capacity ratio (BCR) 4.52 or the increasing percent 351.8 %. The maximum BCR that is got from the combination between three layer reinforcement with the 4B width (B is the width of the foundation) and 0.25B depth
