Abstract

The government's solution to availability of national beef is to import livestock, but it cause dependence on other countries, so a policy of developing 1.000 Belgian Blue is made from the results of the application of artificial insemination and embryo transfer. Belgian Blue expected to help government efforts to increase beef production in Indonesia through improving the genetic quality of livestock. Belgian Blue is a beef cattle from Belgium and has advantages, such as double muscle, low fat, high protein and carcasses 70-80%. The obstacle in maintaining Belgian Blue is superior phenotype can’t be clearly identified, because the performance of an animal is the result of the influence of genetic and environmental factors on physiological status. The purpose of this research was obtained physiological status of Belgian Blue, including body temperature, heart rate and respiratory frequency from embryo transfer. This research was conducted on 7-21th November 2018 at the BPTU-HPT Sembawa, Banyuasin. The method used in this research is descriptive methods. The parameters observed were body temperature, heart rate and respiratory frequency. The results showed that Belgian Blue in the tropics had a body temperature of 35- 36oC, heart rate of 107-114 times per minute and breathing frequency of 99-109 times per minute. The conclusion of this research is physiology status of Belgian Blue from embryo transfer in tropics area is normal range for body temperature, heart rate is higher and relatively fast respiratory frequency.
