Abstract
Multi drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) is a drug-resistant tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that is resistant to rifampicin and isoniazid. High or low treatment success rate is influenced by several factors, there are patient factors, supervisors for drug swallowing/Pengawas Menelan Obat (PMO) and drugs, patients not compliant to take anti-TB drugs, patients move other health care center, and TB resistant to anti-TB drugs. Putro (2013) states that there is an influence of knowledge, attitude, motivation, perception and supervisors for drug swallowing in the success of intensive TB treatment. The purpose of this study was to compare the level of knowledge about tuberculosis in drug-sensitive and drug-resistant TB patients in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This observational analysis study was conducted at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from October to December 2019. The sample in this study was from primary data obtained from interviews with drug-sensitive TB patients and drug-resistant TB patients seeking treatment at RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during October-December 2019. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that of 74 TB patients, the level of good knowledge in drug resistant TB patients was 65% and the level of lack of knowledge in drug sensitive TB patients was 64.7%. There is a significant proportion difference in the level of knowledge between drug-sensitive TB patients and drug-resistant TB in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang (p <0,05).
