Abstract

Indonesian Leafish (Pristolepis grooti) are wild fish and the study of fish is still limited. One way of transporting live fish is by applying wet transportation techniques. The aim of the study is to determine the effect of red fruit guava leaf extract used improving survival rate of fish species during transportation. This research used completely randomized design (CRD) with defferent concentration of P. guajava var. pomifera leaves extract i.e. 0% (P0); 0,25% (P1); 0,50% (P2); and 0,75% (P3). The observed parameters were survival rate, blood glucose and water quality (temperature, pH, DO, CO2 and TAN). Addition of red fruit guava leave extract into transport media during transportation increased the percentage of survival rate of indonesian leafish. The survival rate of indonesian leafish after transportation was highest (100%) on P1 (0,25% of red fruit guava leave extract). The lowest value of blood glucose levels was found in P0 (92,33 mg.dL-1). TAN values in all treatments were still in tolerance for indonesian leafish.
