Abstract
The objectives of the research were 1) to monitor the existence of fruitflies spesies in fruit plantation and 2) to know dispersal of fruit flies in low and highland in South Sumatera Province. The assesment was conducted from July to Desember 2008. The experiment used was purposive sampling method. Fruit crop were used as object of research i.e. 1) belimbing (Averhoa carambola L.), 2) belimbing wuluh (Averhoa bilimbi L.), 3) jambu biji (Psidium guajava L.), 4) Jambu bol (Syzygium malaccense), 5) Jambu air (Eugenia aquea Burm. F.),6) mangga (Mangifera indica L.), 7) pepaya (Carica papayae L.). The result showed 3 species of fruitflies were found attack fruit in lowland and highland in South Sumatera. Those species were Bactrocera albistrigata, B. carambolae and B. papayae. B. carambolae was a polyphagous species compare with the others. This species attacked in almost all of fruit (7 kinds of fruit). Diversity of fruitflies was found in lowland rather than highland. The relationship between atractant and species of fruitflies captures tend to be specific.
