Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kekuatan sambungan pengelasan SMAW dengan variasi kuat arus dan gerakan pengelasan pada baja karbon rendah dengan pengujian bending. Variasi kuat arus yang digunakan adalah 70 Ampere, 90 Ampere dan 110 Ampere. Serta gerakan pengelasan yang digunakan yaitu gerakan pengelasan maju dan gerakan pengelasan mundur. Proses pengelasan dilakukan di SMK YP Gajah Mada Palembang, kemudian proses pengujian bending dilakukan di laboratorium material Teknik Mesin Universitas Sriwijaya. Objek penelitian ini menggunakan baja karbon rendah. Sebelum dilakukan pengujian baja terlebih dahulu dilas oleh welder yang sudah berpengalaman dan tentunya memiliki sertifikat. Hasil data penelitian ini adalah: untuk nilai yang paling tinggi pada variasi arus listrik 90 ampere dengan gerakan pengelasan mundur pola zig zag dengan nilai yaitu 77,44 kgf/mm² dan yang terendah yaitu pada variasi arus listrik 70 ampere dengan gerakan pengelasan maju pola zig zag dengan nilai 14,98 kgf/mm².
