Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) Calculating the income of pineapple farming on peatlands, (2) Analyzing the income of farmers from pineapple farming related to the needs of decent living (KHL) farmers and (3) Analyzing the right strategy for the development of pineapple agribusiness in the peatlands of Tanjung Serang Village , Kayu Agung Regency, Ogan Komering Ilir. This research was conducted in March-October 2019. The site selection was done purposively with the consideration that in the village the major may have pineapple farming. The research method is a case study method, while the sampling method is done by the two stage census method. The data collected consists of primary data and secondary data. Farmers on this peatland were initially guided to plant oil palm because the oil palm plantations had not produced yet, so to meet the needs of farmers' living, pineapple plants were planted among the oil palm plants. Based on the results of the study, the average income of pineapple farmers on peatlands with an area of 1 to 4 hectares is 6,782,106.52 rupiah per month with the standard of living needs of pineapple farmer families an average of 3,858,444.40 rupiah per month, then systematically Pineapple farmers in Tanjung Serang Village can meet the standard of living needs. The strategic position of the pineapple development strategy in Tanjung Serang Kayu Agung Village, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency is in quadrant II area which supports the product diversification strategy based on the SWOT analysis position matrix. This strategy is more focused on STRENGTHS - THREATS (ST) strategy, which is utilizing the climate and land that supports and production facilities to increase pineapple production. With the increase in pineapple production, technology is needed to get added value to overcome competing products so that pineapple farmer acceptance increases.
