Abstract

The physical environment conditions of a poor Islamic boarding school can be an environment suitable for breeding viruses and bacteria that cause ARI. 68 cases of ARI were found in Ar Rahman Islamic Boarding School. The purpose in this research to analyze the relation of the physical air quality in santriwati dormitory with acute respiratory infection at Ar Rahman Islamic Boarding School in Palembang on 2019.The research is with the design of cross-sectional quantitative research. The sampel colletction technique namely simple random sampling. . The population in this study amounted to 133 people with a total sample of 62 respondents. Data analysis done is univariat and bivariat ( test chi-square ). Proportion of students who experienced ARI symptoms was 72.6% based on univariate analysis. While the result obtained bivariat analysis of significant relation at a temperature p = 0,010, humidity p = 0,010, PM2,5 p = 0,013 and residential density p = 0,004 on the acute respiratory infection. There is no significant relationship in lighting p = 0,274 and extensive veltilation p = 0,423 as the acute respiratory infection. There are conclusions in this research is the relations between temperature, humidity, PM2,5 and residential density as the acute respiratory infection. Advice from this research is expected to the boarding school can to put up an exhaust fan in each student‟s room.
