Abstract

PT. Bukit Asam Tbk as a company engaged in mining has a varied coal quality. The difference in the quality of coal mined and the responsibility to fulfill contract criteria is a challenge for the company. The strategy to solve this problem is by mixing coal or coal blending. In the coal blending process, the results are often not in accordance with the expected target so that the selling value will be lower. To overcome this, the process of using mixing equipment is needed so that the quality of coal blending can be controlled according to consumer specifications. This research was conducted to determine the right blending proportion and the length of time mixing with the quality of the blending coal. Coal mixing is carried out on MT-46 and AL-55 coal, where the desired product specifications are BA-50. The results of the calculation of blending proportions using a linear program with POM-QM for Windows applications found a ratio of 66% for MT-46 and 34% for AL-55. From mixing the two types of coal produced coal quality as follows: ash content 3.99%; total sulfur 0.29%, and calorific value of 5,807 calories/gram in air dried basic with an effective mixing time is 10 minutes. Where those three parameters are in accordance with marketbrand BA-50 product specification requirements.
