Abstract

Chronic kidney disease was a major problem in kidney function decline in patients who underwent hemodialysis. The process of hemodialysis could affect on changes in body response that cause stress. Therefore, therapy was needed to reduce stress levels in chronic kidney patients who underwent hemodialysis. This study aims to determine the effect of Mozart classical music therapy on stress levels in patients with chronic kidney disease who underwent hemodialysis. This research was a quantitative research with research design was a pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest. The population in this study were all patients with chronic kidney disease who underwent hemodialysis that suffer stressed and the sample were 19 people obtained by purposive sampling technique. Data collection used questionnaires perceived stress scale (PSS 10) and analysis the data used the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant effect on stress levels before and after the Mozart classical music therapy with p value = 0.0001. The Mozart classical music therapy was recommended as one of the treatments to overcome the stress in patients with chronic kidney disease who underwent hemodialysis.
