Abstract

The objectives of this study are: 1) Calculating the income of rubber farmers before and during the decline in rubber selling prices seen from the income of rubber farmers every week for 10 weeks in SubanJeriji Village, RambangDangku Sub-District MuaraEnim Regency, 2) Analyzing the social and economic conditions of farmers rubber before and during the decline in rubber selling prices can be seen from social conditions, namely farmer's behavior, lifestyle patterns, and farmer's thinking, while the economic conditions of rubber farmers are seen from asset ownership and consumption levels in SubanJeriji Village, RambangDangku District, MuaraEnim Regency. This research will be conducted in SubanJeriji Village, RambangDangkuSubdistrict, MuaraEnim Regency. The location of this research was chosen purposively with the consideration that in SubanJeriji Village it was a village where 80 percent of the population worked as farmers, namely rubber farming as a main source of livelihood. The method used in this study is the survey method. The sampling method that will be used in this study is the purposive sampling method. The primary data taken is a type of panel data, namely data on fluctuations in the selling price of rubber over a period of 10 weeks of research, to see its effect on the socio-economic conditions of rubber farmers. Panel data is a combination of time series and cross section, so in determining the sample can be calculated to be the number of rubber farmers (cross section) taken as many as 15 farmers multiplied by (time series) ten weeks, be 150 samples examined in a certain period of time. The data collected in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data.The average income of rubber farmers in layer 1 before the decline in rubber selling prices was Rp 1,352,282 per week, while the average income of rubber farmers during the decline in rubber selling prices was Rp 1,194,782, in layer 2 before the decline in rubber selling prices amounted to Rp 3,477,810 per week, while the average income of rubber farmers during the decline in rubber selling prices was Rp 3,040,810. which means it can be concluded that there was a decrease in income of rubber farmers both rubber farmers in layer 1 and in layer 2 before and during the decline in rubber selling prices in Suban Jeriji Village, Rambang Dangku District, Muara Enim Regency. It turned out that the income of rubber farmers fell because the selling price of rubber fell and profits were not reached when the price of rubber fell, but the costs of other production facilities remained unchanged, so the hypothesis was accepted. Social conditions and economic conditions of rubber farmers all experience changes, changes in social conditions are marked by changes in farmer's behavior, changes in lifestyle patterns of farmers and farmers' thoughts, only the thinking of rubber farmers in layer 2 does not change because the thinking of rubber farmers is hard to change which has been embedded in his thoughts to keep farming rubber which is their main livelihood. While changes in economic conditions also experienced changes marked by declining household consumption, and changes in farmer ownership assets which declined before and during the decline in rubber selling prices in Suban Jeriji Village, Rambang Dangku District, Muara Enim Regency.
