Abstract

Has successfully developed a science learning device for grade VIII SMP based on valid and practical critical thinking skills. The development model used is the Rowntree development model which consists of three stages namely, the planning stage, the development stage and the evaluation stage. The evaluation phase used in this study is the Tessmer formative evaluation stage which consists of five stages, namely, self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, small roup evaluation and field test. The field test stage was not carried out because of the limits of testing of learning devices to determine validity and practicality. Data collected using walkthrough and questionnaire techniques. The results of the study showed that the validity of the learning kit was in the very valid category. At the one-to-one evaluation stage the teacher belongs to the very practical category and the student's one-to-one evaluation includes the practical category. At the small group evaluation stage the teacher and small group evaluation students belong to the very practical category. Thus, the product of science learning tools for VIII grade junior high schools based on critical thinking skills that have been developed has been valid and practical.
