Abstract

The developments of technology have created some impacts for the advancement of various fields in life. In order for The technology to run and work properly, it requires sufficient energy sources. Which in this case, One of those good media sources is Solar Power Plant. However, the use of Solar Power Plant is inseparable from dangerous threats such as robbery. This could be happen due to the high-priced spare parts inside Solar Power Plants, as well as batteries and solar cell panels (Photovoltaic Module). To overcome the loss caused by the robberies, some researchers have designed some effective security systems by tracking the position of stolen objects using the Global Positioning System (GPS). Previous researches in the security system cases have susceptibilities in communication system and data storage media. Therefore, this research develops a security system to deal with robberies on solar cell panel modules by tracking the position and movement using GPS technology. To overcome the deficiencies in communication systems and data storage media, this security system is equipped with communication media using GPRS and GSM that has been integrated with a database system. The results of this research showed the system was able to track the position and movement of the solar cell panel module in real time with 4.64 seconds of averaged data transmission time. Time Calculation for the system to transmit data is affected by the signal strength at the time the data was sent.
