Abstract

Kualitas produk dari hasil proses pemesinan sangat berkaitan erat dengan nilai kekasaran permukaan (surface roughness). Kekasaran permukaan benda kerja dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya adalah parameter pemotongan, kondisi pemotongan, posisi center antara pahat dan benda kerja, material pahat potong, geometri pahat potong dan material benda kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh sudut potong utama, gerak makan dan kedalaman potong terhadap kekasaran permukaan baja karbon rendah pada proses bubut. Variasi yang digunakan yaitu sudut potong utama (Kr), gerak makan (f ), dan kedalama potong (a) dengan total 27 pengujian. Pahat potong yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pahat karbida sisipan dan proses bubut dilakukan tanpa menggunakan cutting fluids. Dari hasil analisis nilai kekasaran permukaan pada proses bubut, menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang disebabkan dari perubahan nilai sudut potong utama (Kr), gerak makan (f ), dan kedalaman potong (a). Nilai kekasaran permukaan yang paling tinggi yaitu 5.57 µm, didapatkan pada sudut potong utama 85֯, gerak makan 0.14 mm/put, kedalaman potong 2 mm dan gaya potong 202.32 N. Sedangkan nilai kekasaran permukaan yang paling rendah yaitu 3.64 µm, didapatkan pada sudut potong utama 90֯, gerak makan 0.035 mm/put, kedalaman potong 0.5 mm dan gaya potong 57.85 N.
