Abstract

SUMMARY STUDY OF ADSORPTION OF Cr (VI) IONS USING HUMIC ACID FROM PEAT SOIL WITH UV RADIATION Nafi’ul Husna : Surpervised by Dr.rer.nat. Risfidian Mohadi, M.Si and Dr. Muhammad Said, M.T. Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. x + 50 pages, 3 tables, 6 pictures, 9 attachment Humic acid extraction has been done from peat soils. Humic acid material is applied as an adsorbent to adsorption of metal ion Cr(VI). Humic acid material was characterized by using FT-IR spectrophotometer. The FT-IR spectrum showed that the wavenumber 3425 cm-1, 2924,09 cm-1, 1620 cm-1 and 1010,70 cm-1 stated -OH, C-H, C = O, C-O vibration. A after the humic acid from peat soil was applied as metal ion Cr(VI) adsorbent. The process of adsorption of Cr (VI) metal ions using humic acid from peat soil with UV exposure has an optimum condition that is at 40 minutes contact time, while the optimum pH was at pH 3. The adsorption energy of Cr (VI) metal ions with humic acid adsorbents was 9,90 kJ / mol. Keyword : Peat soil, humic acid, adsorption, ion Cr(VI)
