Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) analyzing the pattern of catfish marketing channels (2) analyzing the marketing efficiency of catfish based on production costs, marketing channel margins, farmer's share, trader’s share, and profit ratio (3) analyzing market structure and behavior faced by catfish marketing channel actors (4) analyzing the marketing channels that have the highest profit in the city of Palembang. This research was carried out in Ilir Barat I sub-district of Palembang City, South Sumatra Province. This site selection was done purposively with the consideration that the location could represent Palembang City catfish farmers and had never been a research location on the analysis of marketing efficiency of catfish farming. Data collection is conducted from May to July 2019. The research method used is the survey method. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. Data processing method in descriptive analysis and contribution analysis whis is presented in tabulation of data processing with Microsoft Excel. The results of this research shows that there are catfish marketing channel patterns and three institutions involved namely breeders, collectors and retailers. of catfish marketing channels in the city of Palembang is efficient. The market structure formed in the marketing of catfish tends to lead to the oligopoly market. Keywords : Catfish farmers income, catfish livestock business, marketing channels
