Abstract

Fertilizing Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) using chicken manure fertilizer is an econical alternative, besides being easy to find and how to apply it. The purpose of this study was to determine the best dose of chicken manure on several soil chemical properties and growth of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) in ultisols. This research was conducted from October 2018 to January 2019 in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. Using a completely randomized design with treatment P0 = 0 kg chicken manure, P1 = 6 kg chicken manure, P2 = 8 kg chicken manure, P3 = 10 kg chicken manure, P4 = 12 kg chicken manure, P5 = 14 kg chicken manure and repeated three times. The results of this study indicate that the effect of chicken manure dosage on soil characteristics on date palm plants has a significant effect on pH and C-Organic in the first month and no significant effect on N-Total and P-Available, while the plant parameters show no significant effect on the increase in plant height, number of plant sheath and diameter of the plant. The best treatment for administering a dose of chicken manure is the treatment of P5 14 kg chicken manure.
