Abstract

PT. Gorby Putra Utama is a mining company engaged in coal mining which applies open pit mining methods, namely strip mining. one of the pits currently in the mine of PT. Gorby Putra Utama named the Rajawali pit. Based on the comparison of in situ tonnase data and data on coal mined (tons of coal scales), in May 2017 to February 2018 there was a variation of 23,674.32 tons where the tonnase of coal weighed had a tonnase smaller than the tonnase in-situ. Coal recovery obtained is only 83.1%, while the coal recovery target of the company is 90% and 10% stated as coal loss tolerance. So that coal losses that occur during May 2017 - February 2018 are 6.9%. In addition, the position of the precipitate is steep and slippery due to the rain causing the tool to not be able to mine coal which ultimately causes losses. at the other stages of mining activities such as coal cleaning, the loading of coal on the coal transportation front towards stockROM greatly affects the occurrence of coal losses. So that research is conducted on the amount of coal losses that occur, the causes of coal losses, and efforts made to minimize the occurrence of coal losses. Research is conducted during May 2018 to July 2018. Based on research, coal losses occur due to coal not mined (coal left ) amounting to 15.97% (13,811.03 tons). In addition, coal losses occur due to coal cleaning activities of 2.40% (2,705.85 tons), due to coal loading activities at the front of 4.41% (3,817.12 tons) so that the total coal losses that occur in coal getting months activities March 2018 amounting to 19,704 tons. In order to minimize coal losses, it is necessary to replace equipment that is suitable for the field characteristics and replace the top loading method.
