Abstract

Cases of domestic violence today are still happening in society with various forms of violence, but the domestic violence that often occurs in the society tends to make women as the victims of it, it is caused by the gender disparities that occur between men as the dominant groups and women as the subordinate groups. The differences between men and women has an impact on men’s power over women, resulting the cases of domestic violence in the family sphere are still considered taboo in society. It is undeniable that society are still adheres to the patriarchal culture that makes men suppress on women and so effecting women to keep silent to domestic violence that happened to them. In this research, the researcher used co-cultural theory by Mark Obe using qualitative methods and collecting the data by in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The result of this research shows that there is a group of silence on women victims of domestic violence that occurs because of the limitations created by men to women.
