Abstract

ABSTRACK This research background is poorly maintenance of plants, road conditions in Sriwijaya Botanical Garden area that cannot regarded as adequate supporting infrastructure, and less maintained facilities. The aim of this research is to find out and describe management system of the Sriwijaya Botanical Garden, Ogan Ilir Regency. It uses qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The theory used is George R. Terry and four critical aspects in management success that are planning, organizing, Actuating, and controlling. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study found that Sriwijaya Botanical Garden management had been planned that are: maintenance of plant planning, provision the facilities and infrastructure planning, and socialization planning. Organizing aspect was optimal because the availability number of officer and human resources. The Actuating aspect carried out on plant maintenance but the facilities and infrastructure provision also community socialization hadn’t carried out. Controlling aspect has been carried out in the Sriwijaya Botanical Garden. Based on four aspects it can be said that Sriwijaya Botanical Garden in Ogan Ilir Regency management is unsuccessful. Technical Implementation Unit of Sriwijaya Botanical Garden uses to add inadequate facilities as supporting facilities for research and facilities to fulfill the recreational function, socialization outreach the public about Sriwijaya Botanical Garden so that the public will understand the importance of Botanical Gardens to support environmental sustainability. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurang terawatnya tanaman, kondisi jalan yang berada di dalam area Kebun Raya Sriwijaya belum bisa dikatakan sebagai infrastruktur pendukung yang memadai, serta fasilitas yang kurang terawat. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana pengelolaan Kebun Raya Sriwijaya di Kabupaten Ogan Ilir. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori dari George R. Terry dan ada empat aspek penentu dalam keberhasilan pengelolaan yaitu perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksaan, dan pengawasan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa pengelolaan Kebun Raya Sriwijaya dilihat dari aspek perencanaan sudah direncanakan, yaitu: perencaan pemeliharaan tanaman, perencanaan penyediaan sarana dan prasarana, serta perencanaan sosialisasi. Aspek pengorganisasian dapat dikatakan sudah optimal karena telah tersedianya dari jumlah petugas dan SDM. Aspek pelaksanaan yang terlaksana hanya pemeliharaan tanaman namun untuk penyediaan sarana dan prasarana dan sosialisasi ke masyarakat belum terlaksana. Aspek pengawasan menunjukkan bahwa sudah dilakukkannya pengawasan dengan baik terhadap Kebun Raya Sriwijaya. Berdasarkan keempat aspek tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa pengelolaan Kebun Raya Sriwijaya di Kabupaten Ogan Ilir belum berhasil. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan Unit Pelaksana Teknis Badan Kebun Raya Sriwijaya yaitu agar menambah fasilitas-fasilitas yang belum memadai sebagai fasilitas penunjang untuk penelitian maupun fasilitas penunjang untuk terpenuhinya fungsi rekreasi dan mengadakan sosialisasi maupun penyuluhan kepada masyarakat mengenai Kebun Raya Sriwijaya sehingga masyarakat akan lebih memahami tentang pentingnya Kebun Raya untuk menunjang kelestarian lingkungan. Kata Kunci: Pengelolaan, Kebun Raya Sriwijaya, Perencanaan, Pengorganisasian, Pelaksanaan, Pengawasan.
