Abstract

The incidence of skin diseases is one of the 10 biggest disease in the Ogan Ilir district center. Complaints about skin disorders caused by ungygienic habits or lack of clean water for personal hygiene. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between clean water quality and personal hygiene with complaints of skin disorders in Talang Pangeran Ulu Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. The study used a cross sectional study design. The population in this study were all residents in Talang Pangeran Ulu village. The number of samples was 60 respondents taken by stratified random sampling technique. Water samples are taken from 4 water sources used by the community. Data collection was performed by questionnaire invterviews, measurements using a pH meter, TDS meter, and AAS method. Data obtained were analyzed by Chi-Square test. The proportion of respondents with complaints of skin disorders was 71,7%. Variable water pH, frequency of water use, and contact time were significantly related to complaints of skin disorders (p-value < 0,05) while personal hygiene variable were not related to complaints of skin disorders (p-value > 0,05). Variables associated with complaints of skin disorders are water pH, frequency of water use, and contact time. Personal Hygiene is not related. In order to increase pH of the water you can put a limestone and soak it in the bathtub. Use equipment such as boots and gloves when going to work related to water.
