Abstract

This study examines "Changes in the Utilization of Swamp Land by the Community as a Source of Study Household Income in Nibung Village Sungai Pinang District Ogan Ilir Regency". The purpose of this research is to find out community changes in utilizing swamp land in Nibung Village, Sungai Pinang District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. Types and sources of data obtained through primary data and secondary data with data collection techniques such as observation, interviews and documentation. This study uses Donald L Hardistry's perspective of Environmental Domination theory. The results showed that before being utilized by the community, swamps were naturally shaped. Natural swamp land consists of untreated swamp forest, the condition of which is overgrown with wild shrubs that are flooded. But then there were changes made by the community in using swamps. The swamp land is used as land for paddy fields, land for fish cultivation and land for trade. So that changes in swamp land use by the community can improve the household income of the community in Nibung Village. Keywords: Change, Swamps and Household Income.
