Abstract
Background: Stunting is a condition that describes a history of malnutrition accompanied by growth retardation due to long-term malnutrition. The impacts of stunting werw low endurance, lack of intelligence and productivity and also increased morbidity and mortality of children. There was a relationship between complementary feeding on early breastfeeding with incidene of stunting. The purpose of this study was to analyzed the influence of complementary feeding on early breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting among Indonesian children 24-59 months. Methods: For this study used cross sectional design. This study used data from the 2014 Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS). The population was household having children 24-59 months. samples in this study were 1006 toddlers. The sample selection used multistage random sampling. Data were analyzed using complex sample. Bivariate analysis with chi-square test and multivariate analysis with multiple logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of stunting incidence among Indonesia children 24-59 months was 43,8%. Bivariate analysis showed there was a relationship between complementary feeding on early breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting (p-value= <0,0001). Multivariate analysis showed adjusted ratio prevalence were 1,873 (95% CI 1,529-2,293). Conclusion: Complementary feeding on early breastfeeding has a great influence of stunting incidence among children 24-59 months in Indonesia after being controlle by low birth weight, mother’s height and immunization status. The research suggests that cross-sectoral cooperation is needed to address nutritional status issues, conduct early detection activities by routinely measuring children's height that can be done during posyandu activities and the need for cooperation between parents to improve children's nutritional status so that child growth becomes optimal.
