Abstract

A study has been conducted to find out the understanding of the Geometry Optics concept of 2018/2019 odd semester students of Physics Education Study Program at FKIP Sriwijaya University. The methodology of this study was descriptive study that described the concept comprehension based on indicators of understanding concepts. The subjects of this study were students of 2016 and 2017 intake of Physics Education Study Program that consisted of 94 students. The data has been collected by using essay test on the subject of geometry optics consisted of 5 questions made based on indicators of understanding concepts. The results showed that the concept of understanding in the high category was found in the classifying concept, the concept of light refraction in two different medium densities with an average value of 61.17%. For moderate criteria and the lowest category, it was found in the indicator of interpretation concept. The reflection concept on flat mirrors was 29.25% with low criteria. The whole value of the average understanding of the geometry optics concept of Physics Education Study Program Students at FKIP Sriwijaya University was 30.93% with low criteria.
