Abstract
Current can be divide into tidal current and residual current (non-tidal). The aims of the study were determined the velocity and direction of the current, tidal current and residual current and to analyze the dominant current and the type of tidal in Bangka Strait. Moorings were made on 20 October to 3 November 2017 in the waters of Bangka Strait. Data analysis was performed using software Mike 21, Surfer 12 and determine to using the Admiralty. The result showed that the maximum velocity of the current was 0,452 m/s to the south, the minimum velocity was 0 m/s. The maximum velocity of the tidal current was 0,413 m/s to the south, while the minimum velocity was 0,002 m/s in the direction toward the southeast. The maximum velocity of a residual current was 0,33 m/s in the direction towards the south, a residual current minimum velocity was 0,002 m/s and the direction towards the south. Most dominant current in the waters of Bangka Strait was the tidal current. The tidal type is mixed tide (diurnal) with F = 1,505.
