Abstract

This study aims to determine the strategy of the Palembang City Tourism Office in developing the potential of the Sekanak River as a tourist destination. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, which is a social situation in this study is the Tourism Office of Palembang City as an actor, developing tourism potential is an activity, and the Sekanak River is a place. The subjects in this study were three informants. This study uses four strategic indicators namely, strategy plan, tactic strategy, strategy pattern and perspective strategy. Data collection is done by interview, observation and documentation. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there are four strategies of the Palembang City Tourism Office in developing the potential of the Sekanak River as one of the tourist destinations namely, the first is planning to increase the provision of public facilities, the second is promoting the Sekanak River, then the third is conducting socialization to the public, and the the last four worked with other agencies and the community.
