Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Department of Tourism and Culture of South Ogan Komering Ulu Regency in developing the tourism potential of Lake Ranau. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The social situation in this study is the Department of Tourism and Culture of OKUS as the investigator, the role in developing the tourism potential of Lake Ranau is the activity observed, and Lake Ranau is the place observed. The subjects in this study were three informants. This study uses two indicators, namely the role of regulator and facilitator. Data collection is done by conducting documentation, interview and observation techniques. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there are two roles of the Department of Tourism and Culture in developing Lake Ranau tourism potential, the first is as a regulator making and setting rules to develop Lake Ranau tourism potential, the second role is as a facilitator providing various tourism to support facilities on Lake Ranau.
