Abstract
This study aimed to obtain information about the effect of applying Reciprocal Teaching learning model on metacognitive skills and students’ learning outcomes in immune system material. The research was conducted at Senior High School number 1 Palembang. The research method used was Quasi Experimental with the research design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample of the study was determined using purposive sampling technique, the research samples were class XI MIA 4 as the experimental class and XI MIA 5 as the control class with the number of students in each class 36. The data were collected using tests of metacognitive skills and learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Program for Social Science 25 (SPSS 25), hypothesis testing used the t test and Mann Whitney. The result showed that learning using the Reciprocal Teaching in the experimental class learning model improved students' metacognitive skills with a gain value of 49.73 for the planning component, gain = 46.46 for the monitoring component, and gain = 53.73 for the evaluation component. In addition, students’ learning outcomes were improved with a gain value = 29.36. Whereas in the control class, the gain value of 31,64 for the planning component, gain = 30,65 for the monitoring component, gain = 41,17 for the evaluation component, and student learning outcomes with the gain value = 21,81. The results of the t-test and Mann Whitney analysis showed that learning using reciprocal teaching learning models significantly influenced students’ metacognitive skills and learning outcomes of class XI MIA 4 at Public High School number 1 Palembang.
