Abstract
Indonesia has very extensive Palm plantations, which produce overflow palm empty fruit bunches (PEFB) waste. The PEFB waste can be used to make bio-oil by the hydrocracking process using Ni/ZAA catalyst. The characterization of Ni/ZAA catalyst includes the acidity of catalyst with adsoption ammonia and pyridine and the crystal structure of Ni/ZAA catalyst with XRD. Optimization includes temperature and catalyst weight with percent conversion and density response variables by modeling design Respons Surface Method (RSM). The diffractogram of catalyst characterization result shows the presence zeolite compounds at angles 2θ 26.67 and 27.71 and with nickel oxide there is an angle 2θ of 37.38; 43.42; 62.98. The acidity value of the catalyst's outer surface increased from 0.1995 mmol/g for ZAA to 0.8027 mmol/g for Ni/ZAA, as well for the acidity of the surface in the catalyst it increased from 0.6872 mmol/g for ZAA to 0.9303 mmol/g for Ni/ZAA. The results showed that the optimal conditions by RSM occurred at temperature 553.63°C and weight catalyst 2.2538 g with percent conversion produced at 29.05% and at temperature 568.13°C and weight catalyst 2.0363 g with the density of 0.9714 g/mL. Keywords: Keywords: Bio-oil, Hydrocracking, Catalysts, Optimum Conditions, RSM.
