Abstract
Abnormal menstruation in adolescents can cause problems or disorders for a teenage girl. One of these disorders is the incidence of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) felt by young women. The incidence of dysmenorrhea is 64.25% consisting of 54.89 primary dysmenorrhea and 9.36 secondary dysmenorrhea. Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) can be influenced by various factors, among these factors one of which is the level of physical activity among adolescents especially girls. This study aims to analyze the relationship of physical activity to the incidence of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) in students of SMP Negeri Sid Sidoharjo, Musi Rawas Regency in 2019. This study was a quantitative study with a cross sectional design on a sample of 100 female students. Data analysis was carried out by univariate, bivariate and multivariate. The results showed that 81% of students experienced menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) and 19% of female students did not experience menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between physical activity, duration of menstruation, family history, and knowledge with the incidence of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea). Then a multivariate analysis found that there was a significant relationship between physical activity and dysmenorrhea after being controlled by stress. age, age of menarche, duration of menstruation, knowledge, and family history (p-value 0.032, PR 6.840, 95% CI: 1.174 - 39.857). Through this research, students are expected to be able to maintain daily physical activity and good stress management, and the school should provide facilities in the form of socialization regarding reproductive health in collaboration with local health workers.
