Abstract

Gold nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized using the green synthesis method. Green synthesis method is a way of making nanoparticles by utilizing white turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria (Berg.) Roscoe) as a bioreductor to reduce Au3+ to Au0. White turmeric rhizome extract has a total phenolic of 64.1025 ± 1.234 mg/GAE. The components of gold nanoparticles consisted of extracts of 30 mg, and a solution of acid tetrachloroauric (HAuCl4) with concentrations variation of 0.25 mM, 1 mM, and 2 mM, and observed changes in the color of the solution, wavelength, %EE value, characterization of particle size, PDI, zeta potential, antioxidant activity, and stability test of gold nanoparticles extract of white turmeric. The results obtained from visual observations, wavelength observations on the UV-Vis spectrophotometer, formula II (1 mM) as the optimum concentration in the manufacture of gold nanoparticles with extracts of 30 mg as a bioreductor and stabilizing agent. The optimum formula has a wavelength of 535 nm, and has a %EE value is 90.44% ± 0.0923. The Optimum Formula has a particle size 55.2 nm; PDI value 0.341 and potential zeta -20.4 mV. IC50 values of quercetin, white turmeric rhizome extract, gold nanoparticles without extracts, and optimum formulas were respectively 12.310 μg / mL; 16,2685 μg / mL; 30,1682 μg / mL, and 25,2426 μg / mL which are included in the category of very strong antioxidants.
