Abstract
This study deals with the energetic and exergetic performance evaluation was conducted on a cogeneration system (combined heat and power) of the fertilizer plant of PT. Pusri Palembang. The systems consist of a gas turbine system (compressor, combustion chamber and gas turbine) as an electric power generating and a supplemented fired waste heat boiler (economizer, evaporator and super heater) as a steam generator for process requirement. Quantitative energy and exergy balance for each component and the whole system was considered, while energy losses and exergy destruction within the system were determined. The performance characteristics of this cogeneration system were evaluated using energy and exergy analyses methods. The results show that the energetic and exergetic efficiencies of the gas turbine cogeneration system are 74,45 % with 63.190,17 kW (as power: 7.651,00 kW and superheated steam@677 K: 55.539,17 kW and 11,16 % with 38.172,97 kW (as power: 7.651,00 kW and superheated steam@677 K: 30.521,96 kW, respectively. The highest exergy destruction occurs in refiring process as 33.123,13 kW, i.e. 37,93% of the total exergy destruction of the system or 33,70% of the total exergy of the fuel. While the lowest exergy destruction occurs in economizer as 1.533,73 kW, i.e. 1,75% of the total exergy destruction of the system or 1,56% of the total exergy of the fuel.
