Abstract

Salah satu dampak dari kegiatan penambangan batubara adalah timbulnya kekeruhan air. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di kolam pengendapan bilakmata PT. Kaltim Prima Coal. Kolam Bilakmata memiliki nilai total suspended solid (TSS) yang melebihi baku mutu lingkungan sehingga dilakukan penurunan nilai TSS menggunakan bahan kimia aluminium sulfat dan megafloc 200f. Metode yang digunakan yaitu jar test dan trial langsung di lapangan. Hasil penelitian metode jar test menunjukan penggunaan dosis megafloc 200f lebih sedikit dibandingkan aluminium sulfat. Dosis yang dibutuhkan megafloc 200f dalam menurunkan nilai TSS awal 300-400 mg/l sampai dengan TSS akhir 100-200 mg/l sebanyak 0,17 ppm sedangkan aluminium sulfat sebanyak 3,50 ppm. Persentase penurunan nilai TSS menggunakan megafloc 200f rata-rata sebesar 79% sedangkan persentase penurunan nilai TSS menggunakan aluminium sulfat sebesar 78%. Hasil yang didapat pada metode jar test diterapkan pada metode trial langsung di lapangan dengan penggunaan megafloc 200f sebanyak 292,5 kg sedangkan pada aluminium sulfat sebanyak 3.690 kg dengan efisiensi sebesar 92%. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa megafloc 200f lebih efisien dibandingkan aluminium sulfat.
