Abstract

Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is a form of ad hoc network that is still related and the development of the Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) in which vehicles in the network are used as nodes that are used to communicate with each other between vehicles on certain scopes . This final project will evaluate how strong the Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing (GPSR) protocol is in dealing with various VANET scenarios that have varying density and road types in urban traffic obtained from the Simulator of Urban Mobility (SUMO), and are analyzed using the Network Simulator 3 (NS-3). The choice of the IEEE 802.11g standard was also chosen from the results of a comparison between the IEEE 802.11g and IEEE 802.11ac standards in the scope of traffic with different forms of roads. The measurement matrices used are packet delivery ratio, average end to end delay, data rate, and packet loss. The simulation results show that the IEEE 802.11ac MAC protocol is better than the IEEE 802.11g MAC protocol on the parameters tested. The IEEE 802.11ac MAC protocol has better performance in terms of packet delivery ratio, average end to end delay, data rate, and packet loss.
