Abstract
This study aims to describe the language variations contained in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Data and sources of data in this study are utterances that contain variations of language found in novels Ketika Cinta Bertasbih. From the analysis carried out on the novel, there are 84 utterances containing variations in language. The language variations include: (1) language variations in terms of speakers, (2) language variations in terms of usage, (3) language variations in terms of formality, and (4) language variations in terms of facilities. Language variations in terms of speakers found in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih are dialect variations and sociolec variations. The dialect variations contained in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih consist of Javanese dialects and Sundanese dialects. The sociolec variations contained in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih consist of akrolek, basilek, vulgar, kolokial, jargon, and ken. Language variations in terms of the usage found in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih is a variation of literary language. The variations in formality contained in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih are formal language variations and casual language variations. The variation of language in terms of the facilities contained in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih is a variation of written language. Of the 84 utterances, the form of language variations that is most widely used by the characters in the novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih by Habiburrahman El Shirazy are variations of the Javanese dialect.
