Abstract

Lightweight concrete merupakan jenis beton yang memiliki berat jenis berkisar antara 300 kg/m3 sampai 2.000 kg/m3. Lightweight concrete dapat dibuat dengan berbagai cara, seperti penambahan foam dan menggunakan agregat ringan. Expanded polystyrene sebagai salah satu bahan industri yang cukup sering ditemukan merupakan salah satu bahan yang bisa digunakan sebagai pengganti agregat biasa. Penggunaan foam dan expanded polystyrene dalam beton dapat mengurangi berat jenis beton secara siginifikan. Komposisi dari lightweight concrete terdiri atas portland composite cement, expanded polystyrene, air dan foam. Perbandingan komposisi yang digunakan adalah 1 : 2,75 untuk semen dan agregat, 1 : 40 untuk foaming agent dan air, serta perbandingan w/c sebesar 0,485. Ukuran expanded polystyrene yang digunakan adalah 1mm, 2mm, dan 3mm. Perawatan beton dilakukan dengan merendam beton di dalam air selama 7 dan 28 hari. Hasil pengujian beton pada umur 28 hari memberikan data kuat tekan rata-rata sebesar 5,508 MPa, serta data berat jenis rata-rata sebesar 876,463 kg/m3. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada pengujian sifat fisik dan mekanik lightweight concrete dengan variasi diameter Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), yaitu 1 mm, 2 mm dan 3 mm.
