Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage is defined as the loss of more than 500 ml or 1,000 ml of blood following childbirth. The incident of postpartum hemorrhage has contributed to the leading cause of maternal mortality up to 20-30% on average. In developing countries such as Indonesia, the highest number of maternal mortality (107 cases) was caused by postpartum hemorrhage and the number had increased to 120 cases by 2018. This study aimed to find out several related factors and the magnitude of risk factors as well as the type of distribution mapping of postpartum hemorrhage cases. This research used a cross- sectional design. The data used in this study were secondary data in the form of medical records of mothers who gave birth or referral patients who were treated in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Section at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang and Islamic Hospital Siti Khadijah Palembang with a record of 176 per-vaginam cases combined. The data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, chi-square and multivariate tests using logistic regression predictive models. Mapping analysis was done by using the ArcGis application. The result indicated that the risk factor, which had a significant relationship with the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage, included maternal age (OR: 2.4; 95% CI: 1,222-5,019), education (OR: 2.8; 95% CI: 1,199-6,801), gravida (OR: 2.1; 95% CI: 1,151-3,970), parity (OR: 2.0; 95% CI: 1,109-3,818), anemia (OR: 3.3; 95% CI: 1,655-6,695) and macrosomia (OR = 2.7; 95% CI: 2,243- 3,323). The most dominant factor related to postpartum hemorrhage incidents was anemia status. The most common mapping of postpartum hemorrhage incidents was in the District of Ilir Barat I with a total of 7 incidents.
