Abstract

ADE MUTIA, The Effects Of Using Biochar and Water Table On Growth and Yield of Bima Brebes Varieties of Shallot plant (Allium ascalonicum L.) (Guided by SUSILAWATI And YERNELIS). The research aimed to evaluate the effects of using biochar and water table on growth and yield of Bima Brebes varieties of shallot plant (Allium ascalonicum L.). The research was conducted at Experimental farm of Agricultural Faculty Sriwijaya University, on March until June 2019. The research used factorial randomized completely block design with 2 factors and 3 replication. The first factor was biochar dosages, consisting of P0 = Control, P1 = 51 g per plant, P2 = 102 g per plant, and second factor was soil water table consisting of T0 = control (no water treatment), T1 = 10 cm of water table below soil surface, T2 = 15 cm of water table below soil surface, T3 = 20 cm of water table below soil surface. The observed parameters were plant height, leaf number, tiller number, tuber number, fresh bulb weight total, bulb fresh weight, bulb dry weight and bulb diameter. The best treatment of biochar was P2 (102 g per plant) and the best treatment of water table was T2 (15 cm of water table below soil surface). Keywords: Biochar, Shallots, Water table,
