Abstract
PM10 is one of indicators the pollutants in the air. The presence of these particulate in the air can cause problems for people who exposed such as acute respiratory infection (ARI). This study aims to determine the correlation between quality of PM10 in the air with complaints acute respiratory disorders on parking guards 16 Ilir market area at Palembang City In 2019. This research was descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. These samples included 58 respondents. Environmental sampling technique used short term sampling and sampling technique for humans used purposive random sampling. Analysis technique of univariate and bivariate used chi square and presented by tables and narrative. Quality of PM10 in the 16 Ilir market area and the other variables obtained through the measurement and interview used a questionnaire. The results showed that the variables associated with subjective complaints acute respiratory disorders in parking guards were PM10 (PR=1,833; 95% CI:1,193 to 2,816), age (PR=1,462; 95% CI:0,974 to 2,194), working period (PR=1,930; 95% CI:1,220 to 3,053), and use of masks (PR=1,752; 95% CI:1,170 to 2,625). The variables which have no correlation were gender (PR=0,750; 95% CI:0,645 to 0,872), length of exposure (PR=1,014; 95% CI:0,705 to 1,461), and smoking behavior (PR=1,071; 95% CI:0,654 to 1,752). It can be concluded that the environmental conditions like quality of PM10, age, working period and use of masks had a significant relation with subjective complaints acute respiratory disorders in respondents. The suggestion in this research consist the application of PHBS like physical activity, fruit vegetable consumption and medical check up rutinity, doing limitation of the exposure time to reduce interaction with unhealthy work environment and make an promotive approach to parking guards about the benefit of using masks.
