Abstract

The objectives of this research are to: (1) Identify the motivation of woman working at fish cracker industry at SeberangUlu 1 Sub-District Palembang. (2) Calculate the contributions of woman labor income at fish cracker industry to family income and compare woman labor income to the standard living needs (KHL). (3) Analyze factors affecting and significant to woman labor income that working at fish cracker industry at Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-District Palembang. The research was conducted at SeberangUlu 1 Sub-District Palembang. The method used in this study was a survey method. Primary data and secondary data were obtained in the field and processed by mathematical methods, tabulated and then followed by a qualitative descriptive analysis. The motivation of woman working at fish cracker industry at Seberang Ulu 1 Sub-District Palembang is about 60 percent dominated to help increase family income, next 23.33 persent is because of environment factors, 10 percent are looking to had their own savings, and 6.67 percent is filling the spare time by woman labor. The contribution of woman labor income is not dominated to the family income because it’s under 50 percent with the precentage is 49.30 percent. While contribution of husband’s income is around 37.40 percent and contribution of child’s income is around 13.10 percent. While, the contribution of woman labor income has been categorized as smaller than the standard of living needs (KHL) which the difference is about IDR. 302.061,75 each month. In the other hands, the factors affecting and significant to woman labor income are ages, working time of woman labor, and long of the experience that woman labor had.
