Abstract
Mine acid water from the sump Pit 2 pump flow PT Baturona Adimulya had a pH 3,9 with Fe 0,06 mg/L and Mn 5,07 mg/L. These pH and Mn parameters do not fulfill the environmental quality standards based on the 2003 Ministry of Environment. Research at laboratorium scale with the adsorption method using kepok banana peel (Musa Acuminata) as adsorbent was carried out to fulfill these quality standards. This research used two types of treatment of adsorbents, that were wet and dry with mass variation of kepok banana peels 250 gr, 500 gr and 750 gr and variations in the length of immersion 2,5 hours, 5 hours and 7,5 hours for the volume of mine acid water 500 ml. pH and spectrophotometric test were carried out to determine the pH and concentration of Fe and Mn. The result of the test showed the adsorption of dried kepok banana peels increases pH with a range of 6,9-7,6 and decreases Mn to 1,8 mg/L. While the adsorption of wet kepok banana peels increases pH with a range of 4,8-5,5 and decreases Mn to 4,45 mg/L.
