Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the response and resistance of Sorgum when watered with various water volumes and different watering times during vegetative phase. The study was conducted in September 2019 to December 2019 at the Experimental field of Agriculture Faculty of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. The study used a Randomized Block Design consisted of treatment P1 = watered in the morning with water volume of 100% Field Capacity (FC) (2.0 liters), P2= watered in the morning with water volume of 75% FC (1.5 liters), P3 = watered in the morning with water volume of 50% FC (1.0 liter), S1 = waterd in the afternoon with water volume of 100% FC (2.0 liters), S2 = watered in the afternoon with water volume of 75% FC (1.5 liters), and S3 = watered in the afternoon with water volume of 50% FC (1.0 liter). Sorgum is planted in a polybag with soil weight of 15 kg. Watering treatment was applied to the plants at 21 DAP to 27 DAP. Based on the research, that watering with different water volume and watering time had effects on green level of the leaves and no significant effect on the height of the plant, number of leaves, stem diameter, canopy fresh weight, canopy dry weight, panicle weight per plant, seed weight per seed plant, 1000 grains weight, root fresh weight, root dry weight, root canopy ratio, flowering age, harvest age, and seed moisture percentage. Plant which was watered in the morning with 50% of water volume FC shows that the growth and yield of sorghum are still able to survive and give good results.
