Abstract

The purposes of this research is to: 1) Analyzing the factors that influence I district, Banyuasin Regency. 2) Comparing the income of rice farming and galangal the problems faced in rice farming and galangal farming in merah mata village, Banyuasin I District, Banyuasin Regecy. The method used is a survey and comparative method, the sample in this study were 21 farmers who run rice farming and sampling method used in this study used the random method (simple random sampling). The data used are primary data and secondry data. Primary data processed indicate that the factors that influence farmers in choosing rice or galangal farming in the red village are significantly capital and experience of farming. There are differences in income of farmers who run rice farming is Rp.41.219.289 < from farmers who operate galangal farming in merah mata village, Banyuasin I District The problems that exist in running this rice farming are more that technology such as tractors and rice ggrinding machines, pests, weathet, soil of farmer groups, fertilizers. While in galangal farming there are only problems faced by galangal farmers, namely tools or technology which are quite expensive, only farmer groups.
