Abstract

The title of this study was “The Social Capital of Shrimp Paste Businessman in Business Development in Tulung Selapan Village”. This study was aimed to find out and analyze the social capital of shrimp paste businessman in developing the business. This study used a qualitative descriptive research method. The techniques of collecting data were observation and interview. The informants of this study were chosen by using purposive sampling. The results of this study showed that the social capital had important role in developing the shrimp paste business such as the trust of shrimp paste businessman, the suppliers of raw materials, the employees, and the customers could be seen from the suppliers of raw materials who could be trusted in supplying good quality raw materials, the trust in employees, and also customers who owed in ordering the shrimp paste. The social network of shrimp paste businessman determined the development of the shrimp paste business, through cooperation with several parties such as distributors and resellers of the shrimp paste. The social norms formed were the regulations applied by the shrimp paste businessman toward the suppliers of raw materials and the employees.
