Abstract

Improving access to clean water and proper sanitation is one of the goals of sustainable development (SDGs) with a target of 100% of district/cities in Indonesia free from open defecation. In 2015, STBM triggering was held in Way Redak village but until now there has been no increase in access to healthy latrine ownership. The purpose of this study is to analyze community participation in receiving information, discussing and making decisions, and community participation in gaining authority to manage resources the STBM program. This research is a qualitative research using interview, observation, and document review methods. Informants in this study were 15 people. The results showed that informants who participated in triggering activities. When discussing and making decisions with outsiders, the informant is passive. The villagers of Way Redak are also not involved in planning activities to the evaluation/monitoring of the STBM program. The community is expected to participate through ideas / personnel for the success of the STBM pillar I stop BABS program, for example by building latrines at home.
