Abstract
Biogas is one of the New and Renewable Energy. Biogas is able to replace fossil fuels because Biogas has a high CH4 (Methane) concentration of 45-75% of all biogas content. This study aims to determine the effect of steel wool density on biogas purification. The research method used is the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method. This study used three treatments with a density of 0.0943 g / cm3 (PSw1), 0.1886 g / cm3 (PSw2), 0.2829 g / cm3 (PSw3) with 5 (five) repetitions. The parameters observed in this study were the CH4 (ppm) concentration and H2S (ppm) concentration after passing the purification. Based on the results obtained from this study showed that the third treatment (PSw3) with a density of 0.2829 g / cm3 succeeded in increasing the CH4 concentration by 418% with a concentration value of 93674.26 ± 2779.53 ppm and H2S concentration by 66% with a concentration value of 37.22 ± 1.23 ppm. It can be concluded that the best treatment in this study is the third treatment because it is able to increase the concentration of CH4 and H2S concentrations more optimally than the first and second treatments.
