Abstract

The title of this study is "The Dynamic Of PT Aek Tarum Palm Oil Plantation Company in Mesuji District Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in 1989-2018". This study was conducted to find out how the early history and dynamic of PT Aek Tarum as one of the long-established Palm Oil plantation companies in Mesuji District, established since 1989. This study was also conducted to find out how PT Aek Tarum played a role of social and economic life of Mesuji District's community, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in 1989-2018. The methodology used in this study was the historical method, with heuristic steps, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Futhermore, this study used the approach of sociology, economics, and anthropology. Based on the research results, it is known that PT Aek Tarum experienced a lot of dynamics, before finally becoming one of the best Palm Oil Plantation companies in Indonesia. There are two fairly serious conflicts between the company and the local community of Mesuji District, which originated from land disputes. But there are also many developments obtained by PT Aek Tarum as a positive achievement for the company. This development has a good impact on the existence of PT Aek Tarum in the world of oil palm plantation business. The presence of PT Aek Tarum in Mesuji District in 1989 also had an enormous influence on the development of the social and economic life of the Mesuji District community until 2018. In social life, PT Aek Tarum had conducted several programs through the CSR Division. On the other aspect, economy, PT Aek Tarum had played an active role in the economic life development of the Mesuji District's community, especially in tenns of the development of oil palm plantations. This fact certainly had a high enough correlation to state that the presence of PT Aek Tarum in Mesuji District played a very important role in the development of the social and economic life of the Mesuji District's community of Ogan Komering Ilir Regency in 1989 to 2018.
