Abstract

PT. Muara Alam Sejahtera is one of the mining companies engaged in coal. Mining location of PT. Muara Alam Sejahtera is located in Lahat Regency, South Sumatra and has a stockpile area, one of which is at the kertapati pier, Palembang city. One of the problems that arise from coal stockpiling itself is the presence of symptoms of burning on coal deposits. PT. Muara Alam Sejahtera has 3 stacks, namely GAR-50, GAR-55, GAR-57. The landfill pattern applied is the Chevcon / Limas Landfill stockpile with actual stockpile conditions which have a total volume of 45,246.35 m3. The dimensions of each stockpile are different, some are still within safe limits and some need to be improved in order to reduce the potential for self-burning. The increase in water content and flying substances is one of them caused by the volume and height of coal that continues to grow so that it continues to accumulate up to 60 days. The temperature in the pile will continue to rise as the length of coal is buried and the wind speed around the pile must be maintained in order to prevent the acceleration of oxidation reactions that can cause combustion in the pile. Preventive measures that can be carried out include compaction on the pile, adjusting the height of the pile, adjusting the angle of the pile, and checking periodically.
