Abstract
The development of questions based on critical thinking ability has been carried out to produce a critical thinking test instrument product on the respiration system material for high school which was valid, reliable, and practical. The method used in this research is the Development Research RD method which refers to Djaali and Mulyono development model. The development steps consist of need analysis, design phase variable construction and learning objectives, compilation of questions, writing instruments, and scoring, and evaluation stages. The evaluation phase is divided into four namely test of readability, the validity test theoretical & empirical, analysis item, and the test of practicality. The validation of the questions is done through two stages, namely theoretical validation content experts, construct experts, and linguists using the CVR method and empirical validation test participants' answers.Analysis of the items is performed by analyzing the degree of difficulties, distinguishing features, and distractor functions. This research resulted in the validation stage there were 34 items declared theoretically valid and there were 21 items declared empirically valid. The results of the reliability of the question instruments obtained by 0.73 included in good category. The questions were categorized as practical because the practicality test had been carried out by the participants by completing the practicality questionnaire and getting a value of 3.40 so that most students expressed critical thinking questions for the material of the practical human respiration system.
