Abstract

This development research aims to produce material class guidance booklets to build positive interest in student mathematics learning that is valid, practical and effective.The development is carried out using the ADDIE research model which consists of five stages, namely the analysis stage, the design phase, the development stage, the implementation phase and the evaluation phase.The research subjects were 30 students of class VII.7 in Junior High School number 1 Kayuagung. Data was collected through student needs analysis questionnaires, interview guides for material experts and linguists, interview guidelines for students and classroom guidance tests totaling 20 multiple choise.The results showed that the booklet was declared valid by the validation of material experts and linguists.In the one to one evaluation phase, the booklet was stated to be practical which was tested on three students with high, medium and low thinking abilities.The booklet has been declared effective, as evidenced by the achievement of an increase in the results of the guidance test which obtained a gain score of 0.83 which is categorized as high.Thus, the booklet can help students develop positive interests in their learning.
